The University of the Third Age, or U3A as it is known, is an education innovation of the 1980s.  It's not a bricks and mortar university, but an organization for "learning in leisure" for the retired and semi-retired.

The U3A is a national institution and registered charity. There are over 500 autonomous branches throughout the country. Epsom and Ewell U3A was formed in 1988 and with currently over 500 members is a very friendly and active branch.  It offers social, cultural and study opportunities, all run on a voluntary basis by the members. 

There are no obstacles to joining, no qualifications are needed and no exams are held. All lectures and study groups are held locally in daylight hours. The modest annual subscription allows participation in all branch activities. Theatre Visits and Social Events are charged at cost.

If you are retired or semi-retired, and are interested in joining, you can be assured of a warm welcome amongst like-minded people.
